Flag Day Ceremony

A Flag Day Ceremony will be held this Friday, June 14th at 7pm at the Maine American Legion, Post 1390 located at 2419 NY Route 26 in the Town of Maine. The evening will include a ceremonial Flag burning of old and tattered American Flags. Last year's ceremony properly disposed of 336 flags. There will also be a Civil War re-enactment, an honor guard,and representatives of local fire departments.

Dispensation for Masons to wear aprons has been granted by RW Bob Rogers, District Deputy Grand Master of Masons for the Broome-Chenango District. Contact Brother John Darrow with questions or to arrange drop off of tattered flags.

3rd Degree

Johnson City Unity Lodge No. 970 will be holding a 3rd Degree on Thursday, March 28th. All who are able to attend are encouraged to do so and support our officers and candidates.

Practices for this degree are as follows:

  • Thursday, March 21 at 6pm
  • Sunday, March 24 at 1pm

Finance Committee Meeting

The finance committee will meet on Monday, March 4, 7:15pm at the Lodge to discuss the current year's budget and a budget for the upcoming year. Committee members, officers, and interested brothers are encouraged to attend.

2nd Degree Practices

Our meeting on February 28th will be for the conferral of the Fellowcraft Degree (at 6:30pm). The following practices are scheduled. Please plan to attend if you are participating in the degree and able to make it.

  • Tuesday, February 19th at 6:30pm
  • Friday, February 21st at 6:30pm
  • Sunday, February 24th at 4:00pm

1st Degree Practice

There will be a practice on Sunday, January 20 at 4pm for our upcoming 1st Degree. Everyone with a part in the degree is encouraged to attend, if able.

December 13, 2012 Meeting

There will not be a degree on Thursday, December 13th. Instead, a regular business meeting will be held at 7:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Holiday Party

On Thursday, December 6th, Johnson City Unity Lodge No. 970 honored wives, families, and widows of the Lodge by hosting a holiday dinner and program. The night began with fellowship over a meal then moved upstairs for entertainment provided by the Sophisticats of Johnson City High School. The evening concluded with wives and widows of the Lodge being presented with a rose. Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this another successful holiday party!

Upcoming 2nd Degree Practices

Practices for the 2nd Degree on 10/25 will be as follows:

  • Sunday, October 14 - 4:30pm
  • Thursday, October 18 - 6:30pm
  • Tuesday, October 23 - 6:00pm

The Junior Warden is contacting folks about parts. Please plan to attend practices if you will be involved in the degree.

2012 Broome-Chenango District Child ID Program

For the second year in a row, a two-day Child ID program was conducted at the Two Rivers Fine Arts & Crafts Festival at the Roberson Center for the Arts in Binghamton, NY on September 22nd and 23rd. The event once again was led and organized by Brother John Darrow from Johnson City Unity Lodge No 970. Thanks again to those who helped make the event possible: Brian Lake from Roberson Museum, Tom Schiptenko and Doug Mosher from Equinox Broadcasting, and all Brothers and friends who volunteered their time. The event has also led to some initial planning for a Child ID Program at a local daycare center as well as having a Child ID crew aboard the Toys for Tots' train that runs from Binghamton to Albany on December 8th.
